The Philippines is blessed with more than 7,000 islands. And amongst all of these islands, nothing stands out the most than BORACAY ISLAND.
This bone-shaped island is located 300kms south of Manila and is 2 kilometers off the nortwestern tip of the Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.
Though Boracay Island is just seven kilometers long and less than a kilometer wide at its narrowest point, this small island continues to score big in the hearts of visitors consistently year after year.
The island is world-renowned for having powder-like white sand, clear blue waters, beautiful tropical palm formations and a healthy underwater marine life.
It was only during the last decade that Boracay came to everyone’s consciousness but as early as 1974 The British Tourism Authority had already named Boracay "the best beach destination in the world", and has continued to gain recognition ever since.
Boracay is often called the “world’s most beautiful tropical beach in the world” and the citations it continue to receive prove so. More recent citations were being #8 in askmen.com’s Top 10 Beautiful Beaches and in 2007 the biggest search engine company Yahoo voted Boracay as the #1 Best Beach in the World.
The island’s main attraction is White Beach, a 4 kilometer stretch having the finest sand in the island, consistent clear shallow waters and beautiful palm tree formations. A wide variety of accommodation line up White Beach from native cottages, which bring authentic island atmosphere, to the 5-star services of upscale luxurious hotels.
Opposite White Beach is Bulabog Beach which is the considered the best kiteboarding and windsurfing destination in Asia for its consistently strong winds. It hosts an International Funboard Cup here every January which attracts competitors from all corners of the globe. Most of the accommodations here cater to these wind hobbyists and is more laid-back and less-crowded.
There are hundreds of establishments that offer food and refreshments ranging from family-run eateries to hotel restaurants that serve Mediterranean, Asian, European and American cuisine.
Boracay offers tourists a wide array of activities be it in land or in water activities that will keep them engaged for several days or even weeks.
To top it all of, Boracay is inhabited by happy and hospitable people. Filipinos also can communicate very well with foreigners compared to their Asian neighbors because of their good command of English.
So pack-up your bags and find out for yourselves, get ready to fall in love with this paradise we call BORACAY.
You deserve this Paradise!
